Chopin Among the ANZACs

The culmination of a research project begun in 2015 by Wanda Horky was this special concert event held at All Saints Ainslie. Featuring Peter de Jager playing Chopin’s music that was heard by the troops in the trenches, on leave, and at home. The concert was interwoven by a presentation with images. Held in the centenary year of the ANZAC commemoration, the event also included a special Last Post ceremony at the Australian War Memorial, and a memorial concert for Lieutenant Charles Frederick Giles Chopin (unrelated), of the NSW South Coast, killed in action. Lieutenant Chopin’s memorial was on behalf all Australians that went to the First World War and did not come home.
