The Friends of Chopin Australia  proudly presents the incredible talents of the home grown Orava Quartet and Polish pianist Aleksandra Åšwigut in a program of Chopin, Penderecki, and Kilar.

 

Performing in Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne as the inaugural Paderewski Tour 2023

This tour commemorates the tour in Australia of Polish pianist and statesman Ignacy Jan Paderewski in 1904, nearly 120 years ago. Paderewski was one of the foremost Chopin interpreters and champions, and edited a complete edition of Chopin's works. He was also Poland's Prime Minister, appointed in 1919, and was one of the signatories to the Treaty of Versailles. Paderewski's tour in Australia was greeted with tremendous public enthusiasm, and he played concerts in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

MELBOURNE CONCERT UPDATE

Please be advised the Melbourne concert has been moved to Deakin Edge at Federation Square to be a part of the Polish Festival in Federation Square. The program will be in two sessions:

2pm to 2:45pm - Fryderyk Chopin - Piano Concerto No 1 in E minor, and Wojciech Kilar - 'Orawa'

3:15pm to 4pm - Krzysztof Penderecki - String Quartet No.3, Fryderyk Chopin, solo piano pieces
