Admission to the International Federation of Chopin Societies

Admission to the International Federation of Chopin Societies

The Friends submitted an application for membership to the International Federation of Chopin Societies (IFCS) on 16 January 2015. Our application was reviewed by the Board of the IFCS at their meeting in Toruń (Poland) on 16 May of the same year. Wanda Horky was able to be present for this meeting. Our application was successful, and the Friends were formally notified of admission on 19 May 2015.

Membership provides access to a network of eminent academics, performers and Chopin societies from around the world, and we can publish our research and our activities in the Federation’s annual magazine ‘Chopin in the World’.

Acceptance into the IFCS is a significant milestone for the Friends. We are not the first Chopin society in Australia to become a member of this august body, but currently we are the only Australian Chopin society that is a member.
