17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition

17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition

In October, Ben James returned to Warsaw on behalf of the Friends of Chopin Australia to attend the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition as a guest of the National Institute of Fryderyk Chopin. This trip served to further the relationships that were established in the April visit, to observe best practice running of a Chopin competition, and to engage with the wider competition community. It was also an opportunity to meet with Dr Wojciech Bońkowski, an academic the Friends had already collaborated with in presenting ‘Dinner with Monsieur Chopin’ in 2014. Ben also took the opportunity to conduct research into the Pleyel and the Erard with specialists in France and Amsterdam during the Competition period.
