Australian Pianist Shaun Hearn Lee Qualifies for Chopin 2020

It is with great excitement and pleasure that we learned that Australian pianist Shaun Hearn Lee has qualified for the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2020.

Over 502 pianists from all over the world submitted applications, and only around 160 or so progress into the Preliminary round.

Shaun is an incredibly talented young pianist and already brings with him an impressive resume of Competition wins, including the Junior Cliburn. His shortened biography from the NIFC website read:

Born on 19 July 2002. He is a student of the University of Western Australia and the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale Incontri Col Maestro in Italy, currently taught by Yoon Sen Lee and Ingrid Fliter. He is also an Associate of London’s Trinity College and was the youngest ever pianist to receive a Fellowship of Music of Australia. He has won a number of competitions, including the Hartford International Chopin Competition, International Robert Schumann Piano Competition in Düsseldorf and Kerikeri International Piano Competition in New Zealand. He has performed with numerous orchestras around the world, including the Kazakh Philharmonic Orchestra, Canton Symphony Orchestra and Jakarta Simfonia Orchestra.
